Over 150 Projects, More than 500,000 Copies. The Process of Creating Cut-out Goshuin

The Charm of Cut-out Goshuin

The allure of cut-out goshuin lies in the intersection of tradition and innovation, spirituality, and art. Cut-out goshuin are artistic creations that decorate temple and shrine seals with the delicate technique of paper cutting. They serve as special mementos for visitors, fostering a deep connection with the people they visit and offering a unique message.

The creation of cut-out goshuin begins with the meticulous work of an artist. Artists spend time on each seal, imbuing them with emotion and finishing every detail with delicacy. The finished products are works of art that deeply impress visitors with their beauty and uniqueness.

Our company undertakes the creation of original cut-out goshuin from scratch. We cater to all requests, including designs that reflect the symbols and characteristics of shrines and temples, or designs inspired by specific flowers, festivals, or events. We offer a variety of papers, including washi, diverse printing options, and luxurious finishes such as foil stamping in addition to paper cutting.

With a track record of over 150 projects and more than 500,000 copies produced, we leverage our experience and knowledge to ensure customer satisfaction.

The production process consists of five major steps.

The Consideration Process

  • Preliminary

Quotation First, please share your requests and design ideas with us. Based on that, we will provide you with an estimate for the design and production costs. The production cost at this stage is only a rough estimate. The final cost will vary depending on the final design details, the paper used, and the specifics of printing and finishing. If you can also inform us of your intended use period, we will adjust the schedule for the design and other preparations in advance.
  • Design

An artist will create an initial draft (rough sketch) based on your requests. After receiving feedback on the initial draft, the final design will be decided. The number of feedback rounds is typically limited to two, depending on the design contract terms. A separate fee will be charged if the design needs to be started over from scratch.
  • Proofing

Based on the decided design, we will create a proof (sample) with the actual processing applied. If necessary, a color proof (for an additional fee) will be taken for printing confirmation. The design will be finalized after receiving your feedback and making the final adjustments.
  • Final Quotation and Order

A final processing quotation will be created based on the finished design. We will send it to you via email along with the order form. Please fill in the necessary information and return it to us. An official order is placed upon our confirmation. We will also inform you of the delivery date at this time.
  • Payment and Shipping

Payment is required two days before shipping, in principle. After confirming your payment, we will deliver the product by the promised delivery date.
